SSC CHSL Exam 2012 notification came out last Saturday for recruitment of Data Entry Operators (DEO) & Lower Division Clerks (LDC). This job advertisement has been published in major national/regional dailies as well as in Employment news dated 14th July, 2012. As per the notification, last date to apply online/offline for SSC CHSL Exam 2012 is 10th August, 2012 and the written exam would be conducted on 21st & 28th October, 2012 . This exam needs minimum Class-XII pass eligibility to appear.

Introduction to SSC CHSL Exam:
SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is a cousin of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and it conducts recruitment exams for Group "B" & "C" posts in the various central Govt. Ministries/Departments of India.
It conducts the Combined HS Level Exam (CHSL) every year in the month of October/November for recruitment of Data Entry Operators (DEO) and Lower Division Clerks (LDC). Previously SSC CHSL exam was known as SSC Data Entry Operators (DEO) exam.

Number of post/vacancies in SSC CHSL 2012:
The exact number of vacancies in CHSL 2012 would be notified by SSC only later. However, last year i.e. in CHSL 2011, there was a total of 3130 vacancies (2410 LDC & 720 DEO) and 2989 (2269 LDC & 720 DEO) were offered job. So you can have some idea regarding how many annual vacancies exist through SSC CHSL.
What are the departments in which Data Entry Operators selected through SSC are posted? These central govt. organizations are as below:
1). Armed Forces Headquarters' Clerical Service Lower Division Grade.
2). Election Commission of India
3). Intelligence Bureau
4). Bureau of Police Research & Development
5). Coast Guard, New Delhi
6). Ministry of Development of North East Region, Shillong
7). Indian Foreign Service (B) Grade Iv
8). Central Bureau of Investigation
9). Controller General of Accounts
10). Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs
11). President's Secretariat
12). Central Vigilance Commission
13). Directorate of Forensic Sciences
On the other hand, Lower Division Clerks selected through SSC are posted in following organizations:

Pay-Scale/Salary for Data Entry Operators and Lower Division Clerks:
Pay Scale being offered for these positions is: Rs.5200-20200 with Grade Pay of Rs.2400.
Eligibility for SSC CHSL Exam:
Age Eligibility: (as on 01.08.2012)
Min: 18 yrs, Max: 27 yrs. (DOB not earlier than 02.08.1985 and not later than 01.08.1994)
Academic Eligibility: (as on 01.08.2012)
Minimum Class-XII pass or equivalent.
SSC CHSL Exam Selection Process:
The selection process for the SSC HS Level Exam consists of two stages:
1.0 Written Exam: It consists of a 2 hour 200 mark test on four areas of General-Intelligence, General-Awareness, English-Language and Numerical Aptitude.
2.0 Skill test for DEO & Typing Test for LDC: Only of qualifying nature.

Call letter/ Admit Card for SSC CHSL Exam 2012:
You are supposed to receive your call letter (termed as "Admission Certificate" by SSC) two weeks before the test date (7th October 2012). You can also download online the admit card for SSC CHSL Exam 2012. Click here to find the list of SSC regional websites from where you can download these CHSL exam 2012 call letter.
If you do not receive these Admission Certificate/Call letter one week before the date of examination, please contact the concerned regional/sub regional office of SSC with proof of having submitted your application.
